I am sure many people are going to think I love this Singer sewing machine because I have never owned a Singer before and because I have never had a proper quilting machine, but I can’t imagine there is something better for me out there. To be brutally honest, I am not so sure I would have considered buying this machine at the standard list price but on the deal I thought it was worth a try, mainly because of my sewing background and my desire to push my skills to the next level, while of course getting some fairly significant projects done and dusted. I am so happy with my selection of the Brother CP-6500. Being human, I was put off by the price of this machine at first. I don’t think you would be a sensible person if you weren’t at first. That and the fact it was a “limited edition” machine named after a television show made me wonder if it was really going to be worth the money. While I did hesitate, I made a list of what my goals were with sewing and what I needed to achieve them as I am, admittedly, far from casual when it comes to this craft. Apart from my project-specific goals, I had also felt a profound desire for a new challenge for a while. The Brother PC-420 is just as easy to set up as my lesser machine and I can do anything I want with it. I can’t speak highly enough of the extra storage space and the organized way all the feet and accessories come. It makes it much easier to keep your sewing items in order when the storage is built with practicality in mind. All in all, this machine is a sure fire candidate for best sewing machine for the home, but only for intermediate to advanced users. (Don’t say I didn’t warn you!)

I love how light this Brother LS2125i sewing machine is. At just under 12 pounds I have never found a machine that is easier to tote around. I can take it with me wherever I go and the set-up is equally simple. This keeps me from wasting time tearing down and putting up projects. While I did get this to teach my daughter on, it has become my back-up sewing machine now that she has graduated to a new, fancy machine. I have to admit, I tend to pull it out more often than my big machine if I am just doing simple tasks and mending. I can’t believe all the power this little Brother has.

Out of the box the Singer 7258 Stylist model sewing machine began to impress me. The walk-through DVD and the instruction manual are so detailed I felt like I had been using this sewing machine for a good while even before starting. Admittedly, at first I was intimidated by all the features, but the walk-through system made everything much easier. I have always gravitated towards Singer products because of the lasting nature of the machines. As an experienced fabric worker, I thought this machine would be beneath me but was a good place for my daughter to start. Boy was I wrong. I was happily surprised at how easy the LCD screen was to read. While I did not know all the stitch photos even after reading the Brother CS6000i review page on Amazon, it only took a short time to sort through and figure out which stitch was best for certain projects. I could not believe how responsive the foot pedal was. I tend to be one of the those people who constantly put too much pressure on the pedal and end up with buddle up material, but with the Brother CS6000i this just did not happen. I could gauge exactly what I needed and when.

I have also found that this machine does not like cheap thread. No matter how I adjust the tension on the spool it will bunch up if the thread is not of quality. That being said, I find that my stitches last better with good thread as well, so maybe the Brother CS6000i just saved me lots time when it comes to re-stitching!
